Introduction:

Each group will pick, at random, one of the following artists to study. Each student will work individually, to find the following information and document in a word/pages document:

Brief Background info:
  • Name of artist
  • Country/state of origin
  • Time period for this style of work
  • Interesting fact(s) - At least two.

Find examples of the artist's work that exhibits each of the following principles of art (you are finding four images total):
  • Tension
  • Rhythm
  • Balance (Symmetry vs. Asymmetry; please identify which it is)
  • Emphasis
*Please note the artwork's title and date next to each
Give MLA credit to the websites you use.
Individually, please pass in a hard copy of the above information
* Insert visuals into the document, but please make them small. Print to YHSArt.

As a group share the information and choose the best information to combine into one presentation. There must be at least one image from each student. What is the best technology tool to share this information with the group?

(As a group, please print your favorite artist image of your group's choices (this will add to the class' visual collection)) Print to YHSArt

  • Wiki
  • Powerpoint
  • Voicethread
  • other?

Whatever technology you choose, your information should be clear, creative, and dynamic!
End products from each group: one visual, printed large if possible, plus a fabulous presentation about your artist.
